In this presentation, Georg from Door Labs introduces their ticketing platform built on StarkNet. Door Labs operates under the brand Serenade Asia, hosting various events across Asia, including Stark Tokyo, Stark Korea, and Stark Singapore. They have seen significant success with over 400 registrations for these events.
Georg explains the motivation behind creating a blockchain-based ticketing platform. Initially skeptical about blockchain adoption due to poor user experience (UX), he realized the potential after partnering with a South Korean entertainment company that sells 600,000 tickets annually. They experimented with selling 300 NFTs as event tickets, which sold out in under 30 seconds. Interestingly, most buyers were women aged 30-60, a demographic not typically associated with crypto.
To improve UX, Door Labs decided to simplify the process by removing the need for a wallet or transaction fees initially. Users can buy tickets without dealing with blockchain complexities, and later, if they create a StarkNet wallet, they can claim their tickets as NFTs, serving as proof of attendance.
Georg demonstrates how the platform works, explaining that event organizers can create events, set details, and manage ticket quantities. The system stores event and registration data, which is hashed on-chain. At the venue, users’ data is verified against the on-chain hash to grant or deny entry. After the event, attendees can claim their NFT tickets through Door Labs’ StartPass website.
The presentation concludes with Georg inviting attendees to ask questions and discuss the project further.
